About ICL
FIVE GENERATIONS OF LONG FAMILY LIQUIDATION SERVICES SINCE 1890
Commencing in the Midwestern town of Dayton, Ohio, during 1890 Franklin Samuel Long (Great Uncle) opened the first business in this long line of evaluation services including the Long family members. Great Uncle Frank conducted regular auction house sales, establishing value on personal property for local community owners needing to convert property to currency. Joseph Long (Grandpa) worked alongside him after the turn of the Twentieth Century and continued bringing family members into the auction business with the addition of sons Bill, Joe and Clement D. Long. The “Long” name became synonymous with professionalism due to success, experience and innovation.
Clement D. Long (Dad) expanded the inhouse method to onsite sale locations, real estate and commercial properties throughout the country, and carried the family dynamic on working with his brothers Bill and Joe. As the Long reputation heightened opportunities in business broadened. In reaction to the degeneration of US cities infostructure Urban Renewal was created and hotel content prospects grew.
By the mid 1960’s Clem Long identified that the auction method of selling these giant hotels limited the potential value of their contents. Using his knowledge of value, and keen business sense Clem branded a new method of onsite hotel content sales formulating the hospitality liquidation industry. Assurance of experience in the family model he brought in children Frank Long, Jim Long, Claudia Long, Cathy Long, and later husbands Ron Getter, Mike Kabealo, wives Venita Campbell and Andrea Lehn. As partners in both the auction and liquidation businesses for decades they perform dutifully together with overwhelming success as the fourth generation of liquidation professionals.
It was 1999, the “Technology Internet Renaissance”, rushing in the wave of venture capitalists eager to purchase business that could be launched with Wall Street IPO’S. Enthusiastic to ride with the wave several companies formed from the original founders. Resulting in 2002 with entrepreneur, Frank Long reuniting the family with the formation of ICL/International Content Liquidations, Inc. The rebranded ICL has never looked back or slowed down with her innovating model, services and vision always anticipating the future needs in hospitality asset recovery
Our latest family chapter resides with the inclusion of Nicole Kabealo (daughter to Claudia) who finished her degree in Business, and practiced alongside her father, initiating the Fifth Generation of the Long Family liquidators. Collectively these Five generations work side-by-side instilling family values into our business practice which assures every client consistent performance from start to finish on their project.
